The Chromosome Chain contains 46 porcelain block- made forms that reflect the building blocks of the DNA chain. This chromosome chain is my personal chain, consisting of 46 different photo images that are my family photographs. Some of them are more than 50 years old such as the photograph of my grandparents from 1948 whom I barely remember, some are old as few weeks. The photographs are essential resource of memory, recollections, reminders and in this case, for me as an immigrant a remembrance of identity. They are reminiscence of deceased family members and a token of the child’s growth moments. I applied photo - lithography transfer on clay using different color stains, iron and manganese oxide. The iron faded in the process of glaze firing metaphysically relating to the fading of memory.  Capturing these precious moments from my family history using clay as the most archival material, honored the memory of my heritage, making me aware of who I am and what I can pass on.

Iconoclast is a piece that puts me in the group of artists who deal with social awareness and social commentary. The idea was to produce multiplies of an every day needed but inconspicuous item. A milk container for its geometric structure and inside content attracted my attention. The humans appear to be the only specie that continues consuming milk even after the full growth and thus milk has a reminiscence of our infantry. As working with students, I noticed the growing gleeful interest for video games that are, in my opinion a lot more of everything but “game”. The appalling level of violence mixed with fun makes me wonder on how would that content influence on the growth of these generations, Are we as specie in need for violence just as for any other nutrition?

The form of the platter is a page of a visual journal. They usually come in my work as part of a series; they are chapters of randomness reflecting my constant inspiration by family.
My family (Moja porodica in Serbian) is the wheel that keeps me rolling.
